Organic Green Coffee: La Voz, Guatemala
Farm: At 12 years and counting, Cooperativa La Voz is our longest running partnership. La Voz is short for “La Voz Que Clame en el Desierto” (the voice that clamors in the desert). Their name references St. John bringing the word of God to a spiritual desert.
La Voz consists of 140 small family farms of Tzutujil Mayan descent and are a very gracious and hospitable people. They grow coffee on the steep slopes of the San Pedro volcano, under a rich shade tree canopy that includes mango, plantain, and avocado trees that also provide homes to a diversity of migratory bird species. They put as much effort into managing this shade canopy as they do in managing the coffee itself. Devotion and pride, intensely rich volcanic soil , and 90 plus years of experience, ensures a vibrant, balanced, and delicious cup of coffee.
